Meet Lagertha: A Viking Queen Looking for a Kingdom of Her Own

Named after the legendary Viking shieldmaiden, Lagertha has more than earned her title.

This young orange-and-white creamsicle beauty was found caring for her kittens in an abandoned van on a property, doing everything she could to keep them safe. Discovered under difficult circumstances, she has shown exactly what makes her so special since arriving in foster care. Fiercely devoted, endlessly nurturing, and incredibly brave, Lagertha has poured her heart into raising her family. When an orphaned kitten needed a mother, she didn't hesitate—she welcomed the little one as her own, bringing her brood to four and proving that motherhood isn't always about biology; sometimes it's simply about love.

As her kittens grow and prepare to find homes, we're hoping someone will see the true treasure in this family: their remarkable mama.

Lagertha is a gentle soul who is still learning that humans can be trusted. While she may be cautious at first, those who earn her confidence are rewarded with a loving, affectionate companion. Her foster mom describes her as "such a sweetie" who can be incredibly loving once she feels safe. She deserves a home that will allow her to blossom at her own pace.

We think Lagertha would thrive in a quieter household with patient, laid-back humans who understand that trust is something precious. A younger, easygoing male cat may be a wonderful companion for her. She would do best in a home without dogs or rambunctious young children, where she can continue building confidence and enjoying the peaceful life she's earned.

Lagertha will be spayed and fully vetted on June 9 and will soon be ready to begin the next chapter of her story. While everyone is naturally drawn to adorable kittens, we hope someone will look beyond the tiny faces and see the extraordinary mother who made their survival possible.
