Oliver is a very sweet kitty, that is about 3 years old and weighs about 10 lbs. He was taken in during the cold winter, (trapped in a porch he came into to for feeding), and was vetted as a TNR cat, with a potential plan to release, but there was a hunch he might be a friendly guy after all.
Oliver was a very patient customer over the winter and he incrementally grew to trust and crave attention, petting, and interaction. He initially lived in an X-large crate to help him decompress.
Later, after he made much progress in the crate, he was moved to a "cat room" as he is in a house with a dog that could harm a cat, but there is a full door length cat gate so he can hear the sounds of the household and his caretaker enters the room several times a day for feeding, petting, attention, playing.
Oliver loves (needs) these visits. I think he would thrive if he could have roam of a whole house. Since he is so interested in being petted and paid attention to, we can picture him seeking that out in a natural manner.
We are looking for a foster home and/or an adoptive home. He has not lived with other cats, but he might thrive with another cat, with proper and patient introduction. He doesn't act afraid of dogs at the gate, he seems rather interested in them. So he can potentially live with another dog or cat, if you have some experience with these introductions. Oliver is FIV positive so would be important if the other cat was FIV positive also.
Oliver would love a home he could have free roam and just keep blossoming. He would do best with someone that has worked with cats before who have come from living outside, as he still needs to make more progress, for instance, we haven't really picked him up, except for one time when he was sleepy, so having him sit on your lap or picking him up, still needs to be explored. He will endlessly rub on your legs, seek to be pet, wants to be near you and then will chill in a cat bed or other area, content just by your presence near him. Oliver is special little (big) kitty. He is still in transition from being on his own surviving outside to becoming more and more of a pet.
