Animal Shelter And Rescue
Description
Our mission is to protect the public, provide excellent animal care, find good homes for our animal guests, to promote responsible pet guardianship, to work to end the overpopulation of feral cats in our community, and to run a well organized, efficient shelter with rehabilitation through education philosophy.
Policies
How long until my application is approved? It could take anywhere from 3 days to 21 days. We ask that you be patient as we are going through lots and lots of applications.
What do I have to do to get an appointment? Fill out an application at branfordanimalshelter.org and get approved. Once your application is approved a staff member will call you to set up an appointment.
Do I have to wear anything special if I am approved to come in? Yes we are requiring that you wear gloves and a mask.
Can my whole family come to see the animals? No only one family member will come meet the animal and decide if it is a good fit for your family.
Do I have to come inside the shelter? For cat introductions or small critters you will have to come inside. You will be asked to come to the shelter wearing a mask and that you bring gloves to put on. For dog introductions you will be meeting dogs outside in the parking lot on a leash or in our fenced in area. You will also be asked to wear a mask and bring gloves to put on while you are meeting our animals.
Can I meet multiple animals when I get there? After viewing all of our adoptable animals online, you should pick one that interests you and talk to staff via the phone about your expectations for the animal such as I want a calm dog who is potty trained, likes kids and cats. They will direct you to the appropriate dog. Also note that we have dogs in foster homes too. You may need to set up a special appointment to meet those dogs. If it rains out appointments for dogs will need to be rescheduled.
If I have an approved application but i don't like any animals that I meet can I make another appointment to come back again if new animals come in? yes you can but since we are working with a skeleton crew it may take some before you can come back.
