Description
Dog Speed Animal Rescue & Transport Society is a not-for-profit Canadian Registered charity.

We help homeless, neglected and abused domestic animals by accepting them into our rescue, providing veterinary care, spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, transportation and ongoing caregiving via our foster homes until we can match our rescues with the most appropriate forever home. We protect our rescues for their entire life-span, accepting them back into our rescue if the current home can no longer caregive for any reason. Our adoption fees are $375 for dogs, $170 for cats.

In addition, we frequently upgrade our skill set on not just domestic animals but all animals including livestock and wildlife, and our directors have taken the MNRF Wildlife Custodian exam.

We have deployed on numerous animals-in-disaster missions, in partnership with other organizations internationally, including Hurricanes Katrina & Gustov, Chile earthquake/tsunami, BP oil spill, Brazil mudslide, Thailand floods, Canadian puppy mill seizures, native community trap/spay/neuter/rehoming of dogs that were going to be culled and most recently Houston, TX after Hurricane Harvey.

We also endeavour to provide education on the humane and ethical treatment of animals. Please visit our website at www.dogspeedanimalrescue.org for more information and check us out on Facebook.
Policies
Step 1: Dog Speed replies to the inquiry email, attaching our Adoption Application form. Candidates will not be considered until we have a completed form as that provides the info we need to determine if it's a suitable match. We get so many inquiries, we only proceed with the ones that are suitable matches for that pet.

Step 2: Telephone chat with potential adopter to discuss the pet & answer any questions. If still suitable and interested, pet's foster home is provided candidate's contact info to call and provide more details on pet's personality etc.

Step 3: If still deemed a good match after foster chat, a meet & greet is arranged for candidate to meet the pet and us to meet the candidate.

Step 4: Reference and Home checks are done.

Step 5: Pet is transported to new home along with its possessions and all vet paperwork; Adoption Agreement is explained and signed in duplicate, adoption fee is collected. Dog Speed updates microchip record to the Adopter's info.
